Cherrapunji

Upon arrival at the Airport or Railway station, move towards Cherrapunji (147km, 4 and half hours). Upon arrival do some sightseeing of Cherrapunji. 

⦁ Seven Sister Falls: It is also well known as Nohsngithiang Falls, famous for its unique formation and outstanding view. Seven sister waterfalls are named after the seven parallel falling waterfalls down a high limestone cliff. 

⦁ Nohkalikai Falls: The waterfalls are covered by dense forest and mist which looks extremely beautiful from the viewpoint. 

⦁ Mawsmai Cave: The cave is famous for its detailed limestone, stalactites, and stalagmites. Unlike other caves in Meghalaya, this cave is easily accessible to any age group. The path of this cave is clear making it easy for people to explore and witness the beauty. 

⦁ Weisawdong Falls: The multi-tiered waterfall of Cherrapunji is famous for its lush forest and peaceful environment. You have to do a short hike to reach the waterfalls.

Today ready for the Double Decker Living Root Bridge and Rainbow waterfall adventure trek. 

⦁ Double Decker Living Root Bridge: Visiting a decker is adventurous as you have to hike for 2-3 hours depending on your pace. The double-decker living root bridge is made of the roots of rubber trees. The tribes of Cherrapunji have been maintained for many years. It is recommended to carry snacks and water bottles while going to double-decker. 

⦁ Rainbow Waterfall Trek: The Rainbow waterfall trek is a must-do for nature lovers because of the scenic views and green landscapes. The trek to this rainbow makes the unforgettable experience through the challenging trek, picturesque nature, and wonder rainbow waterfall.

Shillong

Today move towards Shillong (55km, 2 hours). On the way visit Mawlynnong – Dawki River & Single Root Bridge. 

⦁ Mawkynnong Village: This village is also known as the “God’s own Garden” and is the cleanest village in Asia. The villagers of the community maintained the village with the beauty of its surroundings and bamboo dustbins. Every villager strictly follows the cleanliness process which led to be Mawkynnong village a model of cleanliness. The people of Mawkynnong are very humble and welcoming to show their way of life and traditions. 

⦁ Dawki River: It is also known as Umngot River. It is one of the fresh rivers of Meghalaya, famous for its crystal-clear waters which take the boating experience to the next level. The river is crystal clear in winter time rivers will be at their cleanest, allowing you to see the riverbed. 

⦁ Single Root Bridge or Living Root Bridge: In the Khasi and Jaintia hills, there are natural root bridges called ‘’Living root bridges’’. The bridge is made from the aerial roots of rubber trees. The Khasi and Jaintia tribes have made it a steady and grown bridge over the centuries. The single root bridge is referred to as a bridge that is made out of a single root of the tree. The major attraction in Meghalaya attracts tourists from all over the world to witness its natural beauty.

Shillong

Today you will do sightseeing in Shillong which includes;

⦁ Elephant waterfall – Elephant Falls is a highly frequented tourist spot. The clear water and lush greenery create a captivating scene, making the falls a must-see attraction. Named after a rock that once resembled an elephant but was destroyed in the 1897 earthquake.

⦁ Shillong Peak – It is one of the renowned attractions in Meghalaya tourism. Shillong Peak, situated at an elevation of 6,449 meters above sea level, provides a sweeping panoramic view of Shillong City and the surrounding lush greenery, offering a stunning vista of nature’s scenic splendor.

⦁ Ward’s Lake – Ward’s Lake is one of Shillong’s prominent tourist destinations and is considered a must-visit. Also referred to as Pollock’s Lake (Nan Polok) after a renowned engineer from the pre-independence era.

⦁ Lady Hyderi Park – Lady Hydari Park, a picturesque green space in the heart of the town, was established by Lady Hydari, the nature-loving wife of the former Governor of Assam. Spanning over a kilometer, this park features a mini zoo and a deer park, along with meticulously maintained rose beds that showcase a variety of vibrant blooms. 

⦁ Cathedral church –The Cathedral church is located on Laitumkhrah Hill and it is made up of stained Glass with elegant proportions.

⦁ Don Bosco Museum (Closed on Sunday) – largest cultural museum of the Asian continent. It is located at Mawlai, Shillong.  DBCIC focuses on research, training, cultural studies, and publications, serving as a hub for knowledge-sharing about the diverse cultures of Northeast India.
