About Rameetay Dara Viewpoint
Rameetay Dara is a hilltop viewpoint 4km from Mirik town, reached by a road that winds up through orange orchards, cardamom plots and small tea estate sections. The road itself is the attraction as much as the top — the gradient from 1,495m at the lake to 1,650m at the viewpoint passes through the mixed cultivation that makes Mirik valley different from the pure tea-estate landscape of Kurseong or Darjeeling. From the top, a bench on the north-facing slope looks across the Teesta valley toward the Kanchenjunga group, with the Nepal foothills visible as a lower ridge to the left on the clearest winter mornings. A good sunset or sunrise viewpoint with no entry fee and almost no other tourists on weekday mornings.
