About Ramdhura Village
Ramdhura is a farming hamlet 8km from Tinchuley along the same high ridge, facing north with the same Kanchenjunga panorama but from an even quieter position — fewer homestays, fewer visitors, more cows on the road and more washing lines than viewpoint signs. The ridge path connecting Tinchuley and Ramdhura (4km, 1.5 hours on foot) passes through organic gardens, cardamom plots and small woodland sections, and is the best ridge walk in the Darjeeling hills east of Singalila. Ramdhura itself is a village of about 50 households, all farming. Local homestays are among the most authentic in the district — you sleep in a family house, eat what the family eats, and wake up to the same mountain view they have been waking up to for generations.
Why go to Ramdhura Village
Even quieter than Tinchuley — same Kanchenjunga view
The ridge viewpoint at Ramdhura faces the same mountain range as Tinchuley but with fewer visits, more farm life and a genuine feeling of being a guest rather than a tourist.
Most authentic homestays in the Darjeeling hills
Ramdhura homestays are family houses, not guest houses. The experience is genuine village life — meals cooked over a wood fire, vegetables from the same terrace, mornings starting with tea and the mountain.
