About Himalayan Viewpoint
Tinchuley sits on a high ridge at 1,800m in the Darjeeling hills, 30km from Darjeeling town — a quiet farming village that faces north across the full Kanchenjunga massif. The view from the ridge above the village is one of the best in the Darjeeling district and, crucially, almost no one comes here. On a clear October or November morning from the wooden bench at the viewpoint, you can see Kanchenjunga (8,586m), Pandim, Kabru, Rathong and the Singalila ridge all together — the same mountain panorama that Tiger Hill offers, with the difference that you are the only person looking at it. Tinchuley is primarily a homestay destination — guests stay 2–3 nights and walk the ridgeline, the tea estate edge and the organic farm paths. The view is always there in the background, and on the clearest mornings it dominates everything.

Things we always tell our guests about Himalayan Viewpoint
- The viewpoint is most rewarding as part of a 2-night homestay — the mountain view improves with altitude acclimatisation and you will want to watch it over multiple mornings.
- Ask your homestay host for the best current ridge path for the viewpoint — the exact point moves slightly with season.
